The number of prescriptions for Ritalin, used to treat ADHD (hyperactivity), rose 30% last year, according to figures from medicine monitoring group SFK and quoted in today’s De Pers.
Of the 200,000 people in the Netherlands who take Ritalin, 25% are under the age of 10 and 30% are adult.
New US research suggests children given Ritalin are more likely to experiment with illegal drugs.
