Heath insurance consolidation continues
Thursday 14 June 2007
Health insurer Achmea plans to take over sector peer Agis to create the country's biggest health insurance company.
The combine would have a total 4.7 million clients. Agis will operate as an independent unit within the Achmea group. Financial details were not made public.
Agis has a workforce of 1,500, Achmea 3,200. Unions said they feared job losses. They claim 5,000 jobs have already gone as the health insurance sector consolidates.
