Schiphol no longer in airport top 10

Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport fell to 12th place on the Airport Council International’s ranking of the world’s biggest airports last year. In 2005, Schiphol was in ninth place.

The figures also show that Madrid, Hong Kong and Bangkok could overtake Schiphol this year. Passenger numbers at Schiphol grew 4.4% last year, less than half of Hong Kong and Madrid, the ACI figures show.
A Schiphol spokesman said it was not serious if Schiphol fell in the rankings. ‘What is important is keeping our international transfer role,’ he told the Financieele Dagblad.
