Groningen hiv suspect is a nurse (update)Thursday 31 May 2007 One of the men suspected of deliberately injecting gay men with HIV-infected blood is a 48-year-old nurse from a residential care home, it emerged on Thursday. Police say a further eight people have approached them about their involvement in the sex parties where at least five men are said to have been drugged and injected with blood. How many of the new witnesses are actual victims of the attacks is not yet clear, police said. So far four men have made formal complaints. Four people have been arrested, two have been charged with premeditated assault. Many of the Dutch papers opened with the scandal on Thursday. The AD says it has spoken to someone who knew the men charged with the assaults. ‘They are aggressive and dangerous people,’ the source, who was too frightened to give his name, told the paper. The Volkskrant has spoken to a café owner who knows two of the victims and ‘a lot of lurid details’, while a health expert tells the Telegraaf the men will almost certainly go on to develop AIDS within the next 10 years. The suspects have been charged with premeditated assault rather than attempted murder because the life expectancy of the victims is good thanks to modern medicine, the public prosecution department said. © DutchNews.nl Get the DutchNews.nl newsletter in your mailbox: Click here to subscribe

Well, the public prosecution department has obviously not itself been injected with the infected blood.
AIDS is AIDS, and that is one of the worst epidemics. No "modern medicine" eases the pain of the inevitability of acceleration of one's death, so the comment goes to the trash.
And since not all premeditated assaults results into developing "AIDS within the next 10 years", and in addition having to supply onself (i.e. the victim of the assault) with them "modern medicine", I strongly believe that the public prosecution department should make a more rigid charge.
