Bailiffs track down 15,000 petrol thieves

Bailiffs managed to track down some 15,000 motorists who left petrol stations without paying for their petrol, transport minister Camiel Eurlings told MPs on Wednesday.


Since 2004, garage owners have passed car registration details directly to bailiffs to track down non-payers. Some 30% are never traced, usually because the number plate does not match the car or has been stolen.
