Máxima is most popular royalFriday 20 April 2007 Princess Máxima is the most popular member of the Dutch royal family, with 26% of the population voting for her, a full 10 percentage points in front of queen Beatrix. In third place is crown prince Willem-Alexander, with 15% of the vote. The survey was carried out among 24,000 people for TV show Eén Vandaag. Some 73% support the continuation of the monarchy. The survey also showed that six out of 10 people believe Máxima should hand in her Argentine passport if she becomes queen. Máxima currently holds both Argentine and Dutch nationality. Some 60% of those polled said they had great faith in Willem-Alexander as king, and one-third thought he should only fulfil ceremonial functions. The Dutch monarch is technically head of the government and plays an active role in the cabinet formation process. Mayors and the commissioners who head the provincial governments are also officially crown appointees. © DutchNews.nl
Princess Maxima: By Mavis F | April 21, 2007 1:26 AM Even if Maxima would wish to, she would not be able to give up her Argentinean nationality, as the laws of Argentina forbid that. And no, her daughters don't have the Argentinean nationality although it seems they can opt for it when they are 18. By Netty | April 21, 2007 6:41 PM Of all the commoners who married into European royalties, Princess Maxima I think fits in very well, she represents By Addi West | April 22, 2007 3:14 PM Maxima was indeed the best choice Willem Alexander ever could have made. She is very intelligent, has learned already during the first few month to speak some Dutch, so she could talk to the people in Holland. Was and still is, a good ambassor with very good diplomatic skills. She saved her fiancee and later husband sometimes from real bad situations, by smiling with her beautiufl smile tell the press and others that he made "a small mistake" (hij maakte een foutje). Now she has 3 daughters within about 4 years. But managed to work about fulltime till the last one was due within a week. She does a great deal of work for the poor in Africa, by granting them mini-loans, so especially the women can set up their own small business. She worked, before she married, in New York in an international bank. That bank is helping her out to give the mini-loans to women in Africa. She does not only do that by writing, but appearing there very often. I remember, when she was heavily pregnant of her second child, she sat hunched down with the women in real bad heat, to talk about their problems. She was a normal citizen of Argentine, but learned very fast to behave as Royal people have to do. But at the same time, she is able to approach many people who need her and her banking system. She will become a good Queen when Willem Alexander will become King of the Netherlands. By Marian Albers | April 22, 2007 5:46 PM How can only 16% say that Queen Beatrix is their favourite royal. She's the best queen in the world, so easy going and down to earth. I wish she were Britain's queen. By Louise | April 25, 2007 3:43 PM Maxima of the Netherlands is a wonderful would- be queen as is Mary of Denmark. I agree that the Queen of the Netherlands is a better queen than the queen of England, as is the Queen of Denmark. By christina | May 5, 2007 2:59 PM crown princess maxima is the best of all the crown princesses i think..she got everything a princess should be..the second in my list is princess Mathilde of By addi holmes | July 14, 2009 2:17 AM
