Dutch army has two types of cluster bomb

The Dutch army still holds two types of cluster bomb in its arsenal, defence miniser Eimert van Middelkoop told MPs on Thursday. The use of such types of munition is justified ‘in certain circumstances and after very careful consideration,’ Van Middelkoop said.

Middelkoop’s statement follows the news that the UK is to remove all cluster bombs from its arsenal. Cluster bombs shatter into lots of small bombs when dropped and claim large numbers of civilian casualties.
