Getronics ‘no comment’ on takeover by KPN

Getronics has declined to comment on reports in Friday’s Telegraaf that it is being prepared for a takeover by telecoms group KPN.

‘We never comment on media rumours,’ a spokesman told news agency Betten. A spokesman for KPN said the group had talked about expanding in the IT sector in a general sense.
Quoting company sources, the Telegraaf reports that Getronics’ banks are fed up with the ‘endless financial tricks’ employed by heavily criticised CEO Klaas Wagenaar and have asked the financial top man Maarten Henderson to clean up the company ready for a sale.
Henderson was formally financial director at KPN and has a good relationship with its chairman Ad Scheepbouwer, the paper reports.
Getronics booked a loss of €145m last year and became embroiled in an Italian book-keeping scandal.
