Thursday’s parliamentary debate over dual nationality called for by anti-immigration party PVV must take place in a dignified manner, prime minister Jan Pieter Balkenende said on Tuesday evening. Balkenende said the discussion so far has focused too heavily on dual nationality in relation to Islam rather than how newcomers can be made to feel that they belong in the Netherlands.
