The company which represents the heirs of popular children’s writer Annie MG Schmidt has written to dozens of créches and playgroups asking for €350 for using names which are closely associated with the Schmidt’s books, such as Jip en Janneke. ‘They are using names which have author’s rights attached and have to pay for that,’ spokesman Renske Pesman from Wombat BV told the AD newspaper.
