New JSF jet fighter is taking off

More than 70 Dutch companies are currently involved in the development of the new JSF fighter jet, with contracts worth some $700 mln, engineering group Stork said on Friday.

In total, Stork believes it will get JSF contracts valued between $4bn and $6bn, around $1.3 bn of which will be subcontracted to other Dutch firms. The Dutch government has not formally decided whether or not to buy the JSF to replace its current jet fighters.
Stork is currently embroiled in a clinch with hedge funds Centaurus Capital and Paulson & Co which want to split the industrial conglomerate up. They believe Stork should focus on its aerospace activities and divest its print, technical and food service units.
