In total 13 buses have been destroyed by an early morning fire at a bus depot in Utrecht, leading to major disruption to services.

The fire, at the depot in Westraven near the A12, was reported at 4.50am, and one motorway slip road was closed.

A bus company spokesman said he hoped normal services would resume later in the day, as replacement vehicles were brought in. Some 20 different routes have been affected.

Police are now investigating the cause of the fire.
