FeaturesHow to win the Nyenrode Master Challenge: Part II - 05-12-2012 Nyenrode Business Universiteit is on the hunt for remarkable global talents who can convince an online panel of experts why they should win a full tuition scholarship in the Nyenrode Master Challenge 2013.
Meis Salameh from Syria and Jill Schreuder of the Netherlands were among the talents who decided to shape their future by giving their best on this online competition. Their determination, creativity and outstanding profiles made them deserving winners of the award. Banking career When making the decision to enroll in a full-time MBA program, one of Meis’ biggest challenges was to stop working for twelve months. She was well-positioned in the banking sector in Syria and worked in the finance and compliance department of different Syrian banks. But motivated by the approach of the IMBA Challenge, Meis decided it was worth the risk.
'Now I'm at Nyenrode, I have discovered so much, and Nyenrode is such a beautiful place. Here, you learn and experience things it is hard to find elsewhere, especially with its international diversified community.' Meis says self-confidence is key to success. She recommend participants in the Nyenrode Master Challenge make the most of its innovative online approach and believe in themselves as well. 'That should give them the drive and focus to win,' she says. Determination Jill Schreuder's international leadership orientation and resilience were key elements that differentiated her from other talents during the Nyenrode Master challenge. Jill has proven her interest in foreign cultures and cross-cultural management and she had already studied in China, the US and Germany. She was attracted by the business orientation and entrepreneurship style of Nyenrode's programs.
'I've aways been curious about different cultures and I think this has helped me adapt to a multicultural environment like Nyenrode. When applying for the challenge I kept a quote by Donald Trump in my mind: 'success is a ladder that cannot be climbed with your hands in your pockets'. Jill say she has set her goals as high as possible so she will reach the top. 'To get a placement in a prominent university, one has to work hard and prove oneself. Taking this Master's degree will help me reach a higher step on my ladder to success.'
