Set up in 1952, Nuffic describes itself as the ‘Netherlands organisation for international cooperation in higher education’ and acts as an intermediary between the higher education sector in the Netherlands and in other countries. The organisation’s motto is ‘linking knowledge worldwide’. ‘What we love about knowledge is that you cannot give it away. You can only share it with others,’ says Nuffic wisely on its website.

I*ESN Tilburg is an organization that was formed by a merger of ICONN and ESN Tilburg on April 12th, 2011. Both organizations looked after incoming international students in Tilburg. ICONN mainly focused on the degree-seeking students, where ESN Tilburg concentrated themselves on exchange students. On July 25th, I*ESN Tilburg was officially founded in Tilburg. The organization looks after both groups of international students, and also after Dutch internationally-minded students who want to gain international experience and broaden their views at home, or had an experience abroad themselves and want to contribute to the international student life of Tilburg.

AEGEE is a European student association which consists of a network of 15.000 members, active in 232 cities in 43 different countries. The association doesn’t recognize a national level, but has a European and local level. The Netherlands has ten other AEGEE locals though. In Tilburg, AEGEE is already present for more than twenty years. They have an office at the Tilburg University, but also HBO-students are more than welcome.
