ADO Den Haag loses stadium sponsor, takes Chinese owner to court

adoThe Dutch football association has placed The Hague football club ADO Den Haag in special measures and fined it €10,000 for failing to get its finances in order following the long-running dispute with Chinese owner Wang Hui.

The KNVB has also given the club six weeks to come up with a plan to get back on track, according to broadcaster NOS. It says the club’s licence could be in danger if its financial situation is not sorted out by February 1.

ADO has taken Wang to the company court demanding that he loses his voting rights and his position as club chairman. The club also wants two Chinese nationals appointed to the supervisory board to be sacked.

ADO claims Wang owes the club €2.5m and has consistently failed to take action to get the club back on an even keel.

During Thursday’s hearing it also emerged that electronics group Kyocera is stopping as stadium sponsor next year. Fitness centre Basic Fit’s continued sponsorship is also in doubt because of the problems surrounding the club, the Telegraaf reported.
