Cross-border rail services between the Netherlands and Belgium are being hit by three days of public transport strikes until Thursday.

Five intercity trains from Amsterdam to Brussels and four trains heading the other way have been cancelled because of industrial action, along with nearly all trains on the Maastricht to Liège line.

Most trains between Roosendaal and Antwerp will still run on schedule, while the Thalys and Eurostar international trains are unaffected. Around three-quarters of domestic train services in Belgium have been cancelled, with the biggest concentration in the Wallonia region.

Most services will be back to normal on Wednesday, but Dutch train company NS is still assessing the likely impact on Thursday.
