Figures show the coronavirus curve is flattening, but more people are in IC

In total, 7,682 new coronavirus cases were reported to public health institute RIVM in the 24 hours to Saturday morning, up 413 on Friday.

However, the figure shows that the number of cases on a weekly basis has not increased, compared with the previous seven day period. Over the past week, there were an average of 7225 cases a day, compared with 7221 a week earlier.

There was an increase in the number of people being treated in hospital for coronavirus. In total, 2,348 people are currently hospitalized, of whom 734 are on an intensive care ward, a rise of 29 on Friday.

Hospital admissions are up 5% week on week, but the rise in IC wards is 12%.
