Restrictions on the number of visitors to private homes are causing the Dutch more problems than the curfew, according to a survey by I&O Research for broadcaster NOS.

While seven in 10 people think the cabinet was right to bring in a curfew from 9pm, just 47% approve of the decision to limit visitor numbers to one person per day, the survey found.  And almost 40% said the visitor restrictions are causing them problems, compared with just 11% who are hindered by the curfew, which was introduced last weekend.

The survey also confirms that support for the government’s approach remains high, with 75% fully or largely behind the cabinet’s strategy. Almost half say the curfew should be extended and three in 10 say it should be even tougher.

Supporters of the two far right parties, FvD and PVV, are most likely to oppose the lockdown and the curfew, as are people who vote for the pro-animal PvdD. Men, and youngsters under the age of 24 are also more likely to be opposed to the current anti-coronavirus measures, the researchers found.
