The names of at least 150 possible victims of human traffickers were released into the public domain following a leak on the website of Dutch refugee settlement agency COA, the NRC reported on Monday.

The NRC reported in June that 1,200 reports of possible trafficking in refugees had been made to the police by COA workers and the details, contained in a spreadsheet, had been mistakenly placed on line following a freedom of information request.

It now transpires that 150 of those reports were not made anonymous, as required by law, and included dates of birth, names, phone numbers and locations.

At least one person has been moved to a new location because of the risk, the NRC said.

The freedom of information request was made as part of an ongoing investigation by the paper and radio programme into the trafficking of refugees.
