Hakim Ziyech’s summer move from Ajax to Chelsea has been sealed after the midfielder agreed personal terms with the London club.

The 26-year-old told Chelsea’s official website on Monday: ‘I am proud to have signed for such a huge club as Chelsea. I am looking forward to next season and hope we can achieve great things.’

The clubs are reported to have agreed a fee of €40 million. Ziyech will remain an Ajax player until the end of the season, although he is currently sidelined with a calf injury.

Ziyech caught manager Frank Lampard’s eye during the two clubs’ Champions League clash in November, when he had a hand in three of the goals in a match that ended 4-4. Chelsea went on to qualify from the group stage at Ajax’s expense, together with Spanish club Valencia.

Ziyech has played 162 games for the Amsterdam club altogether since signing from Twente Enschede in 2016, scoring 48 goals. He has also scored 14 times in 32 international appearances for Morocco.
