There was disappointment for two of the three Dutch football clubs taking part in Europa League competition on Thursday evening.

AZ of Alkmaar won a healthy 6-0 home victory against Astana of Kazakhstan, putting the club into second place in Group L with five points from three games.

But PSV Eindhoven could do no more than a 0-0 home draw against Austria’s LASK. They do remain in the lead in Group D with seven points from three games.

Out-of-form Feyenoord of Rotterdam lost 2-0 away on penalties to Young Boys of Switzerland. They drop to the bottom of Group G with three points and must beat theĀ  Swiss side when they meet again in two weeks to have any chance of moving on in the competition.

Earlier in the week, Ajax of Amsterdam lost 0-1 to Chelsea in the Champions League competition but remains joint top of their group.
