A record 670 players left, moved to or switched clubs in this summer’s football transfer season, the Dutch football association KNVB said on Tuesday.

The season ended on Monday with a flurry of last-minute activity, in which 42 players moved club. The last on the list was Mike Trésor Ndayishimiye’s move from NEC to Willem II at 23.15 hours.

Of the 670 moves, 260 involved a transfer within the Netherlands. In total, 233 players came to the Netherlands from abroad and 177 left the country.

Ajax was the dominant player on the transfer market, selling Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong for €150m and bringing in Quincy Promes, Lisandro Martinez, Edson Alvarez and Razvan Marin.

PSV sold top scorer Luuk de Jong to Sevilla and Hirving Lozano to Napoli and invested in Ritsu Doan, Bruma and Timo Baumgartl. Ibrahim Afellay returned to the Eindhoven side.

Feyenoord also brought back Leroy Fer, Luciano Narsingh and Rick Karsdorp back to Eredivisie football.
