Swedish-German private equity company Triton has opened an office in Amsterdam to further strengthen its presence in the Benelux region.

‘The Benelux market is an interesting space where Triton funds have already made significant investments,’ operating partner Luc Hendriks said. In addition, Triton recently announced investments by Sunweb in travel company Corendon.

‘There are more than enough opportunities here,’ Koos van de Linde, who will lead the Benelux team, told the FD. ‘Of course there are signs the economy is weaking and we do see risks attached to trade wars and Brexit. But you take these into account. And we will be extra careful before stepping into a company which delivers a lot to the UK.’

The 38 companies currently in Triton’s portfolio have combined sales of around €14.7bn and around 72,500 employees. The office is based in Amsterdam’s Zuidas business district.
