German long-distance bus company Flixbus is closing several ticket offices in the Netherlands, following its takeover of Eurolines in May this year.

‘Eurolines has been loss making for years,’ a spokesman told the Financieele Dagblad. ‘Our analysis shows that the costs made by the Dutch offices outweigh the sales.’

The offices and ticket shops in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague will be closed with the loss of 12 jobs, the company said. Several other workers have been offered alternative functions and people on temporary contracts will not be offered a new one.

The FNV trade union federation claims Flixbus has broken the terms of the takeover agreement by threatening to sack 22 people in total.
