Three of the four young men killed in a car crash on the A12 near The Hague on Tuesday night were members of the same Dutch Turkish family, and the fourth was about to get married, the AD said on Wednesday afternoon.

The four died after their car came off the road near the Prins Claus junction and hit the supports of an overhead motorway matrix board.

It is unclear, as yet, if any other vehicles were involved in the crash. Footage shows the badly damaged car on its side next to the gantry, between the crash barrier and sound wall.

Two of the four who died were brothers, the other a cousin, and they were aged 16 to 21. The fourth man, aged 26, was about to marry into the family. The four were on their way back from a henna party, a traditional part of the pre-wedding ceremony, the AD said.

The accident is the second involving multiple deaths in two days. Early on Monday, four young men died when their car burst into flames after hitting an overhead speed camera gantry on the A1.
