Dutch shoe company Fred de la Bretonière, which went bust earlier this month, is being taken over by Dutch retail group RNF.

‘Both brands [Fred de la Bretonière and Shabbies] are strong in the Netherlands with potential for growth, starting in Germany,’ RNF owners Ron Janssen and Ferry Helmer said in a press release.

Fred de la Bretonière, which has a workforce of 115, has 11 shops in the Netherlands plus shops in shops. It is not yet clear if any or all the shops will remain open.

RNF acquired rights to Dutch brand MEXX from Turkey’s Eroglu Holding in 2017. It also owns Ferro Footwear and distributes sports label Umbro.
