Large parts of the Netherlands are again without regional transport on Tuesday as bus drivers resume their strikes after a three week pause for the school exam period.

Arriva drivers are striking in parts of Zuid-Holland and Flevoland, affecting services in Leiden, Alphen aan den Rijn and Lelystad. In Deventer en Zwolle Syntus drivers are downing tools while Connexion services in parts of Flevoand and Noord-Holland will also be disrupted all day.

Talks on a new pay and conditions deal for 12,000 public transport workers have been stalled for months.

The unions are demanding less pressure of work and a 3.5% pay rise while employers have offered a 2% increase and no agreement on working conditions.
