A 1-0 win over PSV’s reserve team has put Limburg football club Fortuna Sittard back in the premier division for the first time since 2002.

Fortuna Sittard, who end the competition in second place, win automatic promotion because Jupiler League winners – the Ajax reserve team – are not allowed to move into the Eredivisie.

Jong Ajax sealed their victory with a 2-1 win over MVV Maastricht. It is the first time a reserve team has won the league title.

Eight other Jupiler League teams will now compete for a place in the Eredivisie alongside Fortuna Sittard.

In the Eredivisie, there are still two rounds to go. FC Twente is currently bottom of the league with just 23 points and poised for automatic relegation.
