The three largest banks in the Netherlands – ABN Amro, Rabobank and ING – all suffered online technical shutdowns during different parts of the day on Wednesday, the Nu.nl website reported. The problems were resolved after several hours, the website said.

The problems at ABN Amro began at about 10 am and were repaired shortly before 2pm. The bank is still searching for the exact reason for the failure, but admits there was ‘insufficient network capacity.’
A lot of ABN Amro bank customers were logged in on Wednesday because many companies paid their employees then. The bank had several other online technical failures earlier this month.
Rabobank reported its online failures took place between 7am and 9.30am, making internet banking impossible for about two hours.
The third failure, at ING bank, started at 10am, but bank IT staff had solved the problem by 10.50am. ING is investigating whether its problems were caused by the breakdowns at ABN Amro and Rabobank.
