CBS: household consumption up by 2% for fifth month running

Household consumption rose by 2.3% in August, the fifth consecutive monthly gain of more than 2% , the national statistics office CBS said on Friday.

Consumers spent more on household goods and clothing this August than they did a year earlier, the CBS said, adding that circumstances for continued growth were seen in October as well.

Spending on such sustainable goods rose by 6% in August.
