Ajax through to Europa League quarter finals after home win

A 2-0 home win was enough to put Amsterdam football club Ajax into the quarter finals of the Europa League on Thursday evening, following their 2-1 away loss against FC Copenhagen last week.

It is the first time since 2003 that Ajax have made it through to the quarter finals of a European competition.

Both Ajax goals came in the first half – one from Bertrand Traore early on, and then again with a penalty from the young Dane Kasper Dolberg shortly before the break.

The draw for the quarter finals takes place in Nyon, Switzerland later on Friday.
