Dutch consumers authority investigates Volkswagen emissions scandal

volkswagen golf carThe Dutch consumers authority ACM is looking into the impact of the Volkswagen emissions scandal to find out if Dutch laws were broken, the organisation said on Monday.

Some 160,000 cars with software allowing them to get round emissions testing were sold in the Netherlands and the authority wants to know if consumers were misled.

The results of the investigation are due in the first half of 2017.

Some 5,000 Dutch Volkswagen owners have signed up for a class action law suit against the German car maker and its Dutch dealers for fiddling with pollution figures.
