Winds of up to 110 kph battered southern coastal parts on Sunday as the first autumn storm hit the Netherlands.
In Arnhem, five people were injured when a cafe terrace windbreak blew over and hit them as they were walking towards the station. Four of them were taken to hospital for treatment.
Traffic ground to a halt on some roads because of falling trees and many train services were delayed because objects had blown on to the track.
Monday and Tuesday it will remain windy and unseasonably warm for the time of year, the KNMI weather bureau said. Tuesday will have the best of the week’s weather, with some sunny spells.
Temperatures will drop again from Wednesday and head towards zero, but it will remain dry, the KNMI said.
