An Amsterdam swimming pool has been voted the most beautiful public pool at the Piscine Global Europe event in Lyon, France.

The award went to the Noorderparkbad in Amsterdam Noord, designed by Branimir Medic and Pero Puljiz of De Architekten Cie.

‘Thanks to its bright, airy architecture, Noorderparkbad municipal swimming pool fits in perfectly with its surroundings,’ the jury said in their report. ‘The wooden structure eases the transition between outside and inside, inviting visitors to enter this softly curved pavilion nestling at the heart of a park.’

The pool complex also won both the jury and the public price in the Amsterdam architecture awards.
