Customs officers in Rotterdam have intercepted 900 kilos of cocaine being transported in crates of bananas.

The drugs, with a street value of €30 million, were spotted by a scanner at the city’s docks in a container travelling from Ecuador.

Police tracked the consignment to a storage facility in Hoogvliet where they arrested three men as they unloaded the cargo.

The suspects, the 48-year-old owner of a transport business and two other men aged 38 and 33, will appear before a magistrate on Wednesday, NOS reported.
