Cash crisis for ADO Den Haag as Chinese owner ‘disappears’

ado den haag logoThe Hague’s football club ADO Den Haag risks being placed on a football association watch list because their Chinese owner has failed to make two crucial payments.

The club faces a €1.3m liquidity crisis now Wang Hui has defaulted on payments totalling €1.9m and, according to broadcaster Nos, has ‘disappeared’.

‘He is not responding to calls from the club and they don’t know where he is,’ Nos says.

Wang, who owns United Vansen International Sports, promised to invest considerably in ADO when he completed the takeover last year. The club posted a €700,000 loss last season.

ADO is currently 13th in the Dutch premier league.

On Sunday, Dick Advocaat, who played for The Hague for seven years, made a public appeal for ADO to be taken back into Dutch hands, a demand echoed by some local politicians, according to website Voetbal International.
