Events in Paris, Belgium prompt radical Dutch Muslims to leave

At least 11 known radical Muslims have left the Netherlands in the past few days following the terror incidents in Paris and the foiled attack in Belgium, the AD says on Monday.

Four youngsters from The Hague were picked up in Turkey heading for Syria. Their names may have been included on a secret service list which has been handed over to the Turkish authorities, the AD says.

Sources told the paper the four had plans to go to Syria for some time. Local councillor Arnoud van Doorn, a Muslim convert, told the paper it had become ‘too hot for them’. ‘People are afraid of being arrested in the Netherlands,’ he said.

Several other youngsters have gone to Morocco or into hiding, the AD says.

Another youth, named by the paper as Abe Zakaria, had begun the trip to Syria but regretted his actions and came back. His passport has been cancelled.
