One of Van Gogh’s last works sells in New York for nearly $62m
A late work by Vincent van Gogh has sold at a Sotheby’s auction in New York for $61.8m, well above the expected price, news agency AP reports.
‘Still Life, Vase With Daisies and Poppies’ is one of the last paintings done by Van Gogh.
It was painted at the house of his doctor Paul Gachet in 1890 and is one of the few works he sold during his lifetime, AP says. The painting was acquired by the Conger Goodyear family in 1928.
The auction record for van Gogh is $82.5m.
