Local elections: 1,024 local issue parties are taking part

A record 1,024 local issue parties are taking part in this year’s local council elections on March 19.

This is up 18% on four years ago, Nos television says. At the same time, the number of national party local lists has shrunk from 1,974 to 1,895.

Noord-Brabant has most local parties – they account for 45% of the ballot paper. In Groningen, just 21% of the ballot paper is made up of local and single issue parties.
