Dutch football association to trial goal line camera technology

The Dutch football association KNVB is to run trials of the Hawkeye goal line camera system to monitor crucial matches for a two-year period.

The technology will be used for the final rounds of cup competitions and crucial relegation and promotion ties, the KNVB said in a statement.

The system uses seven cameras to register whether or not a ball actually crosses the goal line. The KNVB is also to use two extra linesmen in these games for extra certainty.
