Despite the chilly weather in April, this spring has been warm and sunny, the KNMI weather bureau said on Thursday.

The average temperature between March and the end of May was 10.4 Celsius at the De Bilt weather station, one degree higher than the spring average. There was also less rain than average and 18 hours more sun.
March 2012 was the third warmest since records began at the beginning of last century.
