PVV down two seats following ‘behave yourself’ budget debate row

Support for the anti-Islam PVV is down two seats in the latest Maurice de Hond opinion poll, as 20% of PVV voters said they disapproved of party leader Geert Wilders’ language in last week’s budget debate.

At one point during the debate, Wilders told prime minister Mark Rutte to ‘behave yourself man’, leading Rutte to tell Wilders to ‘behave himself as well’.
The bad-tempered exchange was criticized by MPs from all parties and many observers.
The Christian Democrats, Socialist and D66 Liberals all rose one seat in the latest poll. The SP is now just two seats behind the PVV. The ruling VVD Liberals remain unchanged on 32.
Unworthy
The poll also showed 70% thought the debate was unworthy of the parliamentary institution and 73% thought Wilders’ entire performance was inappropriate.
In addition, 43% of voters hope the coalition will collapse this year or in 2012, while 47% hope it will continue.
De Hond’s online polls are based on 3,000 people, selected from a data base of 40,000 who have registered on his site.
