A 30% stake in the Netherlands’ only nuclear power plant in Borssele is to be transferred to the German energy giant RWE, bringing an end to a long-running dispute, the Financieele Dagblad reports.

Power firm Essent, now owned by RWE, had wanted to transfer its 50% stake in Borssele to the German firm as part of the takeover deal. But a high court ruling in January prevented the transfer, upholding the statutes of the power plant which state it cannot be owned by a foreign listed company.
Essent has now agreed to sell 20% of its stake to publicly-owned power firm Delta for €137m and the other 20% to RWE for €609m, the FD quotes sources as saying.
The deal also clears the way for RWE to participate in the construction of a new nuclear power plant by Delta.
Delta would not comment and no one was available at RWE to confirm the deal, says the FD.
