Finance ministry to look into 30% ruling

Junior finance minister Frans Weekers is to look into possible misuse of the 30% tax ruling for expats, RTL news reports.

On Tuesday, it emerged some 2,000 Dutch nationals are also using the tax break because they have worked abroad for a long time, costing the treasury €25m a year.
Expats with specific expertise can apply to take part in the scheme, which means they do not pay tax over 30% of their income. Weekers told RTL that the measure benefits the Netherlands because it attracts highly-skilled migrants to come and work here.
