Update: Schiphol airport closed on Monday as ash cloud returns

Schiphol, Rotterdam and Groningen airports cancelled over 500 flights on Monday as the ash cloud from the Icelandic volcano moved back into Dutch airspace.

Flights have been cancelled until at least 13.30 hours, when officials will decide whether to extend the no fly ruling.
‘Please do not come to the airport, and consult the news,’ Schiphol airport said on its website.
But message did not reach thousands of travellers who have turned up at Schiphol, leading to chaos and long queues, the Volkskrant reports.
The closure of the airports is likely to affect some 60,000 people, a spokeswoman for Schiphol said.
The airport authorities were aware of the flying ban at 03.00 but could not place the news on the website until 06.00 because of a computer problem, the spokeswoman told Nos news.
Eindhoven and Maastricht airports are still open but this may change as the ash cloud moves over the country, officials told news agency ANP.
