Canon bids to take over printer maker Océ

Japanese camera maker Canon has made a €1.5bn bid to take over Dutch printer maker Océ, the two firms said on Monday in a joint statement.

The all cash offer will create a ‘global leader in printing industry’ the statement said.
According to the Financial Times, professional printing is one of the main areas that Canon wants to expand into for future growth.
Canon’s bid of €8.60 a share is a 70% premium on Océ’s closing price on Friday.
