Hackers target copyright website

Hackers have closed down the website operated by copyright organisation Stichting Brein following its decision to take legal action against The Pirate Bay file exchange website, the Telegraaf reports.

Last Friday, the foundation said it plans to take legal action against the Swedish website for facilitating the illegal copying of films, tv programmes and games.
Since then the website has been under ‘attack from computers in a number of different countries’, the foundation’s director Tim Kuik told the paper. He believes calls to attack the website were launched via social network sites Facebook and Twitter.
Kuik said the hackers are operating double standards. ‘They can steal what they like but if we open our mouths, they shut down our website. This is the dictatorship of the nerds,’ he was reported as saying.
