Verstappen faces wife-beating charges

Dutch racing driver Jos Verstappen faces an eight month suspended jail sentence for allegedly beating up his wife and slashing the tyres of her car, the Telegraaf reports on Tuesday.

The court hearing was in Belgium, where the couple live. Verstappen denies the charges but admits their arguing did get out of hand. ‘But I did not hit her. I never would,’ the paper quotes him as saying.
The court will give its verdict on January 5.
