An American private equity firm North Street Capital is to buy the Spyker sports car operations of Swedish Automobile, the Financial Times reports on its website.

Earlier plans to sell the luxury car brand to a Russian billionaire have stranded because of the group’s financial difficulties.
Vladimir Antonov had planned to buy Spyker for €15m plus a future profit share, which would have taken the total price to €32m. That deal led to the name change for the Amsterdam-listed company to Swedish Automobile.
A spokesman for the company declined to comment on the FT report.
