Kandinsky and Der Blaue Reiter
Der Blaue Reiter (The Blue Rider) was a group of artists who came together in Munich and which lasted from 1911 to 1914. At its heart were Wassily Kandinsky and Franz Marc and together with other members like Gabriele Münter, Alexej von Jawlensky and August Macke they painted expressive and lyrical paintings in bright colours which heralded the arrival of Expressionism. This major exhibition features highlights of their work.
